The HR Manager for the South Region is responsible for managing a range of activities related to employee/labor relations and human resource functions in multiple locations within the southern region of the Midwest division
Tasks:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Manages and interprets various labor agreements at multiple locations; administers grievance procedures, up through and including mediation and/or arbitration; provides labor relations support during contract negotiations; acts as a liaison between field managers and union representatives.
• Provides advice and counsel to managers and supervisors from multiple locations regarding personnel practices, policies, and employment laws; develops and implements policy changes; ensures compliance with all state and federal discrimination and employment regulations.
• Manages remote benefits administration; coordinates compensation administration; maintains human resources records and reports; maintains affirmative action program; approves departmental invoices for payment.
• Evaluates reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to affect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed
Education:
Masters Degree
Skills Required:
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in HR Management or related field, possession of a Master’s Degree preferred and five plus years of experience at a management or senior administrative level with emphasis on employee/labor relations. Certification as a PHR or SPHR preferred.
Extensive knowledge of applicable state and federal employment and labor laws and governmental compliance requirements.
• Ability to remotely manage and administer a broad range of tasks including resolving complaints, counseling managers and employees on the interpretation of policies, procedures and union agreements.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices in human resources management and supervision in a union environment.
• Ability to prepare written reports, correspondences, and presentations to senior leadership as required.
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally.
• Knowledge of immigration laws and processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Extensive knowledge of information technology, including hardware and software applications, used in the Human Resources function.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job function.
• Ability to maintain physical condition and stamina appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include sitting extended periods of time and operating assigned office equipment and other duties as assigned.
• Ability to travel frequently with little or no notice.
