Essential Functions: "Providing quality customer service is an essential component of every position within Giant/Martins Food Stores. Each position serves its own group of customers, which may consist of consumers, co-workers, vendors and business associates. As much care should be given to handling our internal customers as the ultimate consumer. "Abide by all DOT regulations. "Drive assigned tractor trailer to scheduled stores to deliver product from the Distribution Center. "Responsible for the delivery and security of each load to include seals and locks, delivery of mail and bills, obtaining necessary signatures, assisting store personnel in unloading product, securing cargo and ensuring correct temperature of load. "Picking up assigned backhaul loads from stores and other vendors. "Fueling tractors and trailers and maintaining all equipment in good, clean condition. "Washing equipment as required. "Conduct pre- and post trip inspections on commercial motor vehicles. "Load recycle items and pallets in trailer. "Ability to read, comprehend and document a variety of transportation documents. "Ability to verbally communicate effectively. "Ability to manipulate a variety of communication devices/equipment. "Ability to apply safe driving practices while operating company equipment. "Ability to operate necessary mechanical controls on all tractor-trailers. "Ability to operate vehicles in combination and uncoupled tractor. "Must meet productivity, safety and customer service standards set by Giant Food Stores, LLC. "Must work holidays, nights and weekends. "Must be available for mandatory work days on normally scheduled off days. "Must possess and maintain a permanent Class A CDL. "Ability to frequently climb onto and off of equipment (tractor/trailer) utilizing proper 3-point stance. "Frequently move 5th wheel locking device into position utilizing arms and shoulders. "Frequently raise trailer door to open position standing from ground level (50 lbs. above head). "Frequently lower trailer door to closed position (50 lbs. bending over). "Ability to frequently bend, twist, kneel, squat, reach and crawl. "Ability to sit in a tractor for 8-10 hours per shift, stand at least 1 hour consecutively and walk at least 20 minutes consecutively. "Must work in a variety of temperatures and environments. "Ability to understand and comply with state and local municipal traffic regulations and comply with FMCSR. "Must be able to withstand road shocks and bumps.

Education:
High School or Equivalent
Skills Required:
Minimum Requirements: "Some high school, basic understanding of English and arithmetic "Must have 2 years tractor-trailer driving experience on public streets/highways. "Specialized Knowledge Needed For Performance of Job: Must maintain all driver qualifications required by FMCSR part 391, must meet and follow all regulations set forth by FMCSR "Special Skills: According to FMCSR, must pass a MVR check, drug test, physical, past employment check, vehicle road test and past drug and alcohol check. "Other: Must be at least 24 years of age, must be free of serious traffic violations within the past 3 years, must not have been disqualified for any reason within the past 3 years other than drug and alcohol, must not have been disqualified/unqualified as a CMV driver for a drug/alcohol offense within the last 10 years, must not have been convicted of any felony during the last 10 years.
